The entire Homolka family sets out for the ski resort of Špindlerův Mlýn, promising that they will not spoil their expensive holiday by quarrelling. When they arrive, they find an unpleasant surprise: a double booking means that two married couples, the Burdas and Nováks, have to share a room, although they do not know each other. The problem could be solved by the Homolkas, who have two separate rooms. However, they categorically refuse to exchange rooms, since they want to enjoy their privacy and get their money's worth. Further difficulties are caused by the diligent cultural officer Bradáček.
