A half-built housing estate pulses with the nervousness and haste of its inhabitants, who are not interested in anything beyond their personal horizon. From the tragicomic mishmash of episodes and images, three stories from different generations emerge. A six-year-old boy is getting up to all sorts of tricks instead of being in school, a pregnant girl is about to tell her boyfriend the news, and an old man who has come to see his family throws himelf with rustic straightforwardness into the problems of anonymous city-dwellers. An enervating metaphor of the brutality of civilisation and alienation in 1970s Czechoslovakia.
