Krzysztof Zanussi (Poland)
Krzysztof Zanussi is one of the most significant directors of world cinematography. Following his work in amateur film clubs, where he directed 11 films awarded prizes at home and abroad, Zanussi became a professional filmmaker and became one of the main film icons of moral disquiet. In his films, he asks questions about finding the meaning of life and moral values. He has also written more that twenty screenplays and books about film. His films have received many awards at prestigious festivals in Berlin, Cannes, Locarno, Mannheim and Moscow. Zanussi is a member of the European Film Academy, he has also dedicated his time to theatre direction and lectures at film schools; since 1992 he has been a professor at the Silesian University in Katowice and has received five doctor honoris causa titles. Since 1980, he has been the director of a film studio, TOR. He has made over a hundred films as a director, screenwriter and actor.
