There is nothing like the screening hall going dark

Your artistic CV is admirable, you are an opera singer, you have experience with film and theatre, now you are a star on the stage of the National Theatre in "Věc Makropulos" (The Makropulos Case)... A question arises whether being on a jury, which judges films, is your première or whether you already have similar experience.

I have been on various juries, but never on a film one. It will be my première and I am quite looking forward to it.

Are you a frequent film viewer? Do you go to the cinema or watch films at home, for example on DVDs. What kind of films do you prefer?

I like going to the cinema and I do it often. Watching DVDs at home does not quite satisfy me: smaller screen and those constant "home" interruptions.

Do you perceive being on a jury as an exceptional opportunity to get to know Czech film production?

Absolutely. I will also see films, which I would not normally watch, I do not like nor desire violence and vulgarisms. The whole world cannot avoid it.

And can you tell how you judge films? What makes a good film?

A thought-out script with hidden philosophy, entrancing unpretentious actors and excellent direction as well as music so good that it does not have to show off.

Are planning to do anything else in Pilsen apart from watching films? For example a visit to Pilsen opera in J.K.Tyll Theatre?

No, I am not. Everything I do, I do with the fullest concentation possible.
