Finále Plzeň Film Festival is a unique platform facilitating connections between domestic and international film professionals. The festival puts significant focus to creating a workspace for filmmakers, adding panel discussions, case studies, presentations and workshops to the screening program during its Industry Days.

BENJAMIN HARRIS – THE DNA OF TELEVISION SERIES

The launch of the sixth volume from the Journey to Script series, published by Creative Europe MEDIA. Journeys to Script are focusing on screenwriting and programming, and the newest volume looks at TV series and their structure. Benjamin Harris, the author of the publication, will be with us to launch it. Benjamin Harris was the Assistant Director of the MFA Producers Program in the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television for eleven years. He is a TV writer and a film and television industries scholar, and teaches classes on story development for features and television, creative producing, and the US and international media industries.

CZECH FILM SPRINGBOARD – PITCHING & ROUND TABLES

Czech Film Springboard is an industry event organized by Czech Film Center and Finále Plzeň since 2016.

A closed presentation of 6-8 Czech projects in development or production. Selected projects are pitched to invited international experts from various areas of film industry by their producers and directors and later discussed individually at round tables with selected professionals.

The event is closed for public and accessible only for invited experts and presenters of the selected projects. The main goal is to draw attention of competent international experts to carefully selected Czech projects in various stages of development, and to give the projects chance to test their viability.

PANEL DISCUSSION: FOREIGN TRADE MAGAZINES AND INTERNATIONAL PR

How do film magazines abroad operate and how can they help you? How can you as a producer or a filmmaker work with them? What films are reviewed by critics and what are their selection criteria? These are some of the questions regarding international PR that will be addressed by representatives of Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Cineuropa. The discussion will be moderated by Vojtěch Rynda, experienced film journalist.

Selling a TV show is extremely hard and needs a solid preparation. Once you have developed your creative materials of your show, your personal presentation (pitch) of it is key and so is the “selling” document you send or leave behind that will support your project. What should that document contain and how should it look like?

During this session, Klaus Zimmermann will go through a few examples that will help you understand the vast variety of possibilities and solutions you have and how to shape the best document for your personal project.

CREATIVE EUROPE: SESSION ON TV PRODUCTION SUPPORT

Creative Europe – MEDIA gives every year 11.8 M EUR in the TV Programming scheme to support European independent production companies producing a television work demonstrating high creative value, cross-border potential and cooperation between broadcasters from at least three different countries. Works can be ‘one-off’ or serialised, dramas, animations and creative TV documentaries.

In this half an hour presentation we will explain the conditions of the grant and show some examples of projects supported in the previous years to illustrate the aim of this specific support scheme.
