It’s April 19th and the 31st grande Finale kicks off! You can see more than 130 films, go to concerts, meet the stars and much more. Have you slected and purchased your tickets? We start with the Opening Ceremony today with our amazing moderators Honza Cina and Petr Vančura, followed by a the premiere of Ondřej Havelka’s new film, Hastrman. The main protagonist, Hastrman himsel, or Karel Dobrý, will come and say hello too. Come join us. We added a screening starting at 5pm.
Accreditation and ticket pre-sale for the 31st Finále Plzeň is now open! Since April 9, you can buy either individual tickets or good-value passes: weekend-long or festival-long. A special discount is offered to film students and there are concessions for others, too. The accreditation passes are available online, tickets may also be purchased next to the Plzeň Tourist Information Center located at náměstí Republiky.
A silent film classic under the night sky with live music - a new addition to the program this year. Two extraordinary silent films will be screened in the Kopeckého sady next to Měšťanská beseda. The music, composed especially for this occasion, will be performed live by two popular DJs and transmitted to the viewers through provided headphones. Eroticon, an exceptional film by Gustav Machatý, will be accompanied by DJ Bartesky’s unique combination of electro music and swing on Friday, April 20, at 9 p. m. Tuzex Christ will take over the DJ seat the very next evening, April 21, to present his music score for the 1929 Saint Wenceslas which was made at the suggestion of the President, T. G. Masaryk, for the millennial anniversary of the Czech patron’s death. It was the most epic film of that time with hundreds of extras and the biggest film set structures in the 1920s Europe
This year’s 31st edition will offer the crème de la crème of Czech and Slovak film, television and web production. What can you look forward to? 135 films, 6 preview screenings, 2 series marathons, historical jewels, Czech traces in international co-productions, silent cinema, concerts and much more. Most of the events are English-friendly.
On Wednesday, April 26, we are going to add second screening of Ice Mother. It will be in the Big hall of Měšťanská beseda. New Czech movie with Pavel Nový and Zuzana Kronerová sold out in the Big hall on Sunday, so if you missed it now you have another chance to see it.
We apologize to everyone who wanted to see Somewhere Only We Know on April 26 at 16:30 in Big hall. The screening was cancelled due to technical problems.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday are filled with stars. Jiří Strach, Tomáš Weinreb, Viktor Tauš, Filip Remunda, Vít Klusák, Jan Bártek, documentarist and actress Petra Nesvačilová, scriptwriter Tomáš Baldýnský and other important film professionals all come to say hello to film fans. Among the actresses visiting Finále were such beloved names as Hanka Vagnerová, Denisa Nesvačilová, Eva Josefíková, Jana Plodková, Veronika Žilková, Zuzana Stivínová, Nelly Řehořová and more. And there were more famous faces you could meet: Stanislav Majer, Jan Maxián, Jakub Žáček, Marek Adamczyk and others.
Directors David Ondříček, Matěj Chlupáček, Marek Najbrt, Jakub Wagner, actor Marek Taclík, actresses Jana Bernášková, Lubica Orechovská, Simona Babčáková, film producer Ondřej Zima and many others are coming to festival on Monday.
Finále Plzeň opened its 30th edition on Thursday, 20th April in Měšťanská beseda with a pre-premiere screening of Jan Hřebejk's film Family Friend from the upcoming trilogy Garden Store. The opening ceremony was attended by numerous film delegation: Jan Hřebejk, Petr Jarchovsky, Anna Geislerova, Klara Meliskova, Gabriela Miceva, Lenka Krobotova, Sabina Remundova, Samuel Budiman, Johanka Sucha, Vikror Tauš, Petr Ostrouhov.
On Friday, April 21, you can meet Viktor Tauš, Denisa Nesvačilová, Hana Vagnerová and Eva Josefíková at the festival.
